The Beijing Olympics have begun... As happens at every Olympics, the opening ceremony was pronounced the best yet... And now the stage is turned over to the athletes, who will go for the glory. Some few will win glory and fame. Certain will be picked out to be highlighted by the media, either because they medal several times or due to a human interest story, a la Jamaican bobsledders at an earlier (winter) Olympics. Athletes from the "big" sports will get a lot of attention, those from the more obscure sports less so. And when the Olympics end on August 24th the vast majority will recede back into obscurity, but having had the experience of a life time and perhaps looking forward to another chance at the London Olympics in 2012!!
