In these final days in this battleground state in which this blogger lives, the campaign ads are getting more frequent and building to a crescendo. On the Democratic side this blogger keeps seeing the political advertisement that extols the Obama tax cut, under which 95% of Americans will get a tax cut (a variation of the one below). This and most other ads (from both candidates) also blather on about the "middle class," who apparently always need a lot of help...A couple of observations: First, it seems that almost everyone is "middle class" for campaign purposes. Second, after criticizing President Bush for years for not asking the country to sacrifice anything during this "time of war" (phrase © U.S. administration & fellow travelers) it seems that calls for "sacrifice" are vanishingly rare as the "final sale" is being made...
