"The White House is recruiting Elmo and Big Bird, video game programmers and thousands of scientists..." as the White House Begins Campaign to Promote Science and Math Education. Well, it's badly needed, as shown by people's reactions to any number of recent issues. These include calculating the number of jobs created (or saved) by the stimulus (see some hilarious examples here, or at the link below...), their understanding (or not) of the science behind the new mammogram guidelines (e.g. see link below, and especially the comments), etc., etc.
