With Twitter it is very hard to go back or search further back more than a few hundred tweets, which isn't particularly good for continuity or for keeping tweets "live' and searchable. It is possible to go pretty far back, but it does take a lot of work to do... (e.g. using Google Reader)

An example of loss of continuity: Oxfordgirl has been a stalwart of the "sea of green," tweeting prodigiously about events in Iran after the "stolen" presidential election. So, in September she (?) tweeted that it was all about the "election fraud and Ahmadi coup."
However, if you do the work to walk back to election time in June, you find that she originally said that it was "impossible to know for sure" what the correct election results were; that it really didn't matter who had won because "a massive group" would reject Ahmedinajad nevertheless; and that even if it were proven conclusively that Ahmedinajad actually had won the election, the people "were ready to fight." OK, so she may have credibility for her subsequent efforts, but it would not seem that she has much on her pronouncements re how it has been conclusively proven that Ahmedinajad stole the election from Moussavi...
